Interview Tips – Because First Impressions Count

March 6, 2023

Going for an interview can be nerve-racking for the best of us whether you’ve got years of experience or if this is your very first one. Here are some of PRG’s top interview tips when going for an interview:

  • Do your research

No matter whether this is your first interview or your 100th research is key! You can almost guarantee that you’ll be asked ‘What do you know about our company?’. By showing you’ve done your research, this gives off a strong impression that you are genuinely interested in the company. Employers want people that want to be part of their company and show enthusiasm for what they do.

What are the best sources to research? Start with a standard google search, look through their website and any information there might be in the news about them. Social medial channels such as twitter, LinkedIn or even Facebook business pages can give you an excellent insight into the company culture, awards they have, their goals and values and can provide a bit more personality to the company. Social media will help you go below the surface of what the company does and will show them you’ve gone the extra mile to understand more about who they are. Doing your research properly will also be really helpful for coming up with interesting and genuine questions. Read on for more valuable interview tips!

  • Arrive early

Interview tip number 2. When we say early, 10-15 minutes we’d advise is the optimum time. This not only gives a good impression that you’re organised but it also gives you time to take in your surroundings, breath and compose yourself. There’s nothing worse than turning up in a fluster, hot and bothered so give yourself the best chance!

  • Test drive the journey

If you don’t know the area of the company or the location is new to you, drive/walk/get the bus up there a couple of days before hand. Test the route out and see if the commute is doable for you and it’s a good way to make sure you don’t get lost on the day!

  • Attire

Find out what the dress code is, or if you’re working with an agency they should know whether its casual, smart or suited and booted. Whatever the dress sense is, its always best to go one up. For example, if the dress code is casual come to the interview smart-casual. It is always better to be over-dressed than under and will show that you’ve put time and effort in.

  • If they offer you a glass of water, take one!

Why is this helpful? Not only to keep hydrated and save you in times of a dry mouth, it can be used strategically. If you find yourself talking too fast, getting your words mixed up or even if you need a moment to think about how you are going to answer the question; having a glass of water can provide the perfect moment to take a sip which buys you a couple of seconds to compose and start again.

  • Don’t be afraid to show some personality

Your potential employer will want to see who you really are and what qualities you could bring to the table not only skill wise, but how you will fit in with the team and interact on a day to day basis. Be yourself and don’t pretend to be someone you aren’t as at the end of the day, you want to be a good fit for each other.

  • Sell yourself!

See yourself as a SOLUTION to their PROBLEM. They need your skills to help their business so how can you best showcase this? Go through the job specification and the skills they require and make sure you have great examples of how you can demonstrate these skills confidently. If there any skills you are missing or less experienced in – don’t lie and say you can do them but show you are passionate to undertake any training and that you are keen to learn more!

  • Last impressions are as important as first impressions

Don’t rush out in a hurry. Make sure to thank them for their time and that you look forward to hearing from them, smile and end with a handshake if you can! When you’ve left the interview, follow up with an email thanking for their time and add in a couple of sentences on why you think you would be a good fit.

Why Our Employees Love Working at Precision Resource Group

March 5, 2023

At Precision Resource Group, we have multiple brands covering different sectors in the market. We asked consultants working underneath the iO Associates brand what they thought about working for PRG…

Jordan Ahmed – Recruitment Associate

“I joined iO over 17 months ago and haven’t looked back since. I have been a world wind of a journey since I started and by that, I mean I have really had my fair share of ups and downs but even through these times I can honestly say this is one of the best companies I have worked for. One of the main things I rate about working here is the people. Everyone here is always so friendly and it is a very positive place to work. To anyone thinking of joining iO, I would highly recommend.”

Lucy Standish – Delivery Specialist

“I joined the Precision Resource Group at the beginning of 2018 having never worked in recruitment before. Since day one of working with this brilliant team of people I’ve felt welcomed and supported by everyone and learnt so much because of that. I’ve never worked somewhere so collaborative where every person’s success is constantly recognised and celebrated, as an individual and as part of your team.

Everything exciting that I was told about where the company is heading, the promotions available to everyone, the great culture and work ethic of the day-to-day life here at PRG is true. After previously working for companies in the past where I felt stuck, or under-valued, coming here and joining such a successful and genuine company has been eye-opening to how good a career can be.

iO give you every single tool to help you become the best recruiter you can be, and then it’s up to you how far you take that which can be challenging, but enjoyable when it’s such a hilarious, ambitious, energised office!”

Josh Gardiner – Senior Recruitment Associate

“I joined iO associates almost a 3 years’ ago and it is safe to say that it was the best decision I have ever made with regards to my working career. I went from a global recruitment company where you are simply a number to an exciting, driven company where you find yourself at the heart of everything.

One of my favourite things about working for iO associates is that the opportunities are genuinely endless here. There is no limit to what you can achieve and that becomes obvious as soon as you step through the door. Everyone is hungry to succeed & to take the group to the next level. There’s a real buzz about the place! That, along with the energy, culture and the expertise you’re surrounded by makes it hands-down the best place I could possibly be working.

My future prospects at iO are incredibly exciting. I know that with hard work, determination and commitment this company can take me to places that I have never dreamed of. The ambition of the directors and the direction of the company means that I am very much looking forward to successfully growing with the organisation and can’t wait for the many more years ahead here.”

Why Should You Choose Recruitment as A Career?

January 29, 2023

Are you a recent graduate or someone who feels unfulfilled in your current line of work? Recruitment could be what you are looking for! Here are some of the great reasons why people choose recruitment as a career.

1. Reap the financial rewards

The obvious one you always hear people shouting about is the money! It is not unknown that many recruitment companies offer uncapped commission schemes with the potential to earn as much money as the effort you put in, there is no limit…One of our top billers was able to buy her own house just two years after she graduated with the money she was earning! Whatever it is that you are saving up for, recruitment is one of the best ways to make that money fast and secure yourself financial independence.

2. Progression Opportunities

A successful recruiter can quickly climb the career ladder. There are clear targets set out for each promotion from trainee or team leads to director levels. Recruitment companies will invest in their staff to develop them into great business leaders and the great thing about it is they really do want you to succeed!

Your development and progression are solely reliant on your performance. What does that mean? It means you do not have to wait for someone to leave for you to jump in, once you’ve hit targets you will see that promotion. Your hard work is rewarded! Sounds good right?

3. You never know what the day will bring

Recruitment is a fast-paced industry, and each day can be different. Whether you are doing Business Development, strengthening current account relationships, out on meetings or client events. Being in recruitment gives you the ability to develop your entrepreneurial flare and build your portfolio of clients!

4. Transferable skills are endless!

There are a variety of skills that can be gained working in recruitment just to name a few…

  • Sales
  • Communication
  • Negotiation
  • Account management
  • Resilience
  • Marketing and social media
  • Presentations
  • Administration
  • Time management and the ability to meet targets and deadlines

5. The challenge

People who have worked in the industry will say that recruitment is like a roller coaster. Throughout your career you will face a variety of challenges such as breaking through the barriers to build relationships with that top client you have always wanted to work with, closing that golden candidate who has 5 other offers on the table or finding the ‘Purple Unicorn’ of a candidate to match an impossible job specification.

You will need to be resilient, a self-starter, and have strong communication skills. From this any good recruitment organisation will provide you with the training and tools to deal with these challenges.

I’m sure any recruiter will tell you the experiences they have been through and the challenges they’ve faced but they will also tell you how great it feels when you overcome them! The satisfaction you will gain when you have partnered up someone with their dream job and helped one of your clients build their team in order to develop their business is unparalleled.

6. The people

Now we may be sounding biased here, but within a recruitment career you get to work with the best people! You get people coming from all walks of life. They may have just graduated from university from various degrees, artists, engineers, law backgrounds but they’ve all come together and share the same goals. They are hardworking, passionate, striving for the best and are constantly trying to better themselves.

Not only have you gained some awesome colleagues, but you also get the opportunity to work with some really exciting clients and big names in your industry! You are creating exciting partnerships sometimes working alongside CEO’s, CTO’s and Directors helping their business to flourish.

7. Perks, perks, and more perks

Earning potential aside…recruitment is often seen as an industry that typically work longer hours and the consultants work immensely hard and therefore your time and effort will not go unrecognised. The rewards will differ slightly from company to company, but generally these incentives will include all-expensed holidays in the sun, to 5* lunches, and generally a more social view on work/life balance to ensure your hard work is rewarded.

Precision Resource Group Presented at SGS College

October 21, 2022

This week, Precision Resource Group presented at SGS College in Filton, Bristol.

PRG’s Lead Business Manager Josh Shaw, Business Manager Inness Law, Delivery Manager Abbey Robinson and Internal Recruitment Manager Tyler Zammit took to the stage to speak with the staff of SGS College about ‘Modern Professional Behaviours & Skills for Young People of the Future’.

At PRG, we place great importance on playing a meaningful role in our community, and we are grateful that we are in a position to help our local students and share our expertise with future talent.

Working within senior level recruitment, the way we prepare our candidates never changes. They all have different qualifications and skillsets, and our expertise allows us to consider candidate suitability and employee satisfaction on a daily basis. Therefore, we had plenty to share with SGS’ teaching staff on the topic.

The session covered:

  • How to stand out as a candidate
  • Goal setting
  • The world of work

And much more.

Inness, one of our presenters, highlighted the importance of the topic:

‘This week, SGS college invited myself and 3 other PRG colleagues to deliver a talk on what we know and understand on ‘Modern Professional Behaviours & Skills for Young People of the Future’.

Having been supporting IT professionals on their job search for past 5+ years, with some of those being graduates and young people, we felt we possess some real insights which the teaching staff were able to pass on. With the job market being as competitive and busy as ever, we hope with our presentation, we were able to help and support the next generation of upcoming young talent as they go into the world of work.

The day itself was very well ran, well organised and despite from early nerves as a speaker, I thoroughly enjoyed the day at SGS College. I just hope my dad jokes were enough to be asked back for another talk in the future!’

It was a brilliant day, and a fantastic opportunity to share our knowledge with those who make an impact on our local students.

Thanks for having us!

Precision Resource Group Announce New Charity Partner

October 10, 2022

Today is World Mental Health Day, providing an opportunity to show support for better mental health and mental health charities.

With this in mind, we thought it the perfect timing to announce our new chosen charity, Changes Bristol who will be added to our current charity partners CLIC Sargeant and Jessie May.

Changes Bristol support people with their mental health recovery.

Approximately one in four people in the UK experience a mental health issue each year. Figures show that Bristol sees higher rates of mental illness than the national average, with disadvantaged areas the worst affected. Mental health is just as vital as physical health and mental health issues can affect everything from quality of life to life expectancy.

Changes Bristol is a grassroots mental health charity that has been providing peer support groups since 2004. Changes offers a support network which anyone can access. You don’t need a GP referral, there are no waiting lists, and you can access the support for as long as you need it.

With the help of trained mental health facilitators, these safe, confidential groups enable people work together to improve their mental health. These sessions let people learn from others with lived experience, work to reduce social isolation, support improving self-esteem, and empower people to make the most of their lives.

At PRG we are committed to supporting mental health and back in July, 8 employees spent two days learning about mental health, how to support their peers and how to provide the next steps of getting them the practical help they need.

After the training was completed we set up a MHFA email that allows any employee to contact a MHFA on a strictly confidential manner 24hrs a day, 7 days a week.

Alongside this our health plan also offer a full employee assistance programme (EAP). In times of need EAP have experienced counsellors on hand to support you and guide you through your situation. They provide emotional support, telephone counselling, practical information, face-to-face counselling and CBT.
