National Inclusion Week 2023: Taking Action to Make an Impact at PRG

September 25, 2023

National Inclusion Week 2023 is here, and it serves as a powerful reminder of the essential role inclusivity plays in the workplace. Under the theme of ‘Take Action Make Impact,’ this week encourages employers to actively embrace diversity and create inclusive workspaces for everyone. At PRG, we understand the significance of this message and have taken continuous steps to create an inclusive work environment. In this blog post, we’ll delve into some of the actions we’ve undertaken to make an impact, not just during this week but throughout the last few years.

Partnership with ENEI (The Employers Network for Equality & Inclusion)

PRG is proud to partner with ENEI (The Employers Network for Equality & Inclusion), a not-for-profit equality organisation dedicated to providing valuable resources for building diverse and inclusive workforces. Through this partnership, PRG employees have access to a wealth of resources, including free webinars, blog posts, infographics, and a religious festivals calendar. These resources empower us to stay informed, learn, and actively contribute to creating a more inclusive workplace.

Inclusive Recruitment Webinar

In our commitment to encouraging inclusivity, our HR team rolled out a comprehensive webinar on Inclusive Recruitment – The Candidate Experience. This webinar was made available to all PRG employees, equipping them with valuable insights and tools to ensure a fair and inclusive hiring process. We believe that every step of the recruitment journey should be inclusive, ensuring that talented individuals from all backgrounds have an equal opportunity to thrive within our organisation.

Disability Level 2 Accreditation

PRG has achieved The Disability Level 2 Accreditation, following our successful attainment of Level 1. This accreditation underscores our dedication to attracting and recruiting disabled individuals while providing the necessary support to ensure their success in the workplace. Accessibility and inclusivity are fundamental values at PRG, and this accreditation reflects our commitment to these principles.

Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion Survey

Our People Team understands that to continually improve; we must gather insights into our current workplace environment. To achieve this, they rolled out an Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion survey across the company. This survey aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of our workplace’s inclusivity levels, identifying areas for improvement and implementing effective strategies to enhance inclusivity across the business. This survey will be conducted biannually, ensuring that we maintain our commitment to improvement.

Programme One Partnership

PRG is proud to be a member of Programme One, an initiative dedicated to challenging bias, improving equality of opportunity, and enhancing equity. Our goal is to remove barriers to hiring Black recruiters, aligning our workforce’s representation with our local community’s diversity. While we have made strides in matching this representation within our company, we are dedicated to further enhancing this percentage and increasing the presence of Black recruiters within PRG.

National Inclusion Week 2023 is a testament to the importance of inclusivity in the workplace. At PRG, we are taking action to make a lasting impact by partnering with ENEI, offering inclusive recruitment webinars, achieving disability accreditation, conducting regular surveys, and partnering with Programme One. We are committed to adopting a workplace where individuals from all backgrounds can thrive and contribute to our collective success.

Lola Balogun: The New Mentor for the Aleto Foundation in Collaboration with the PRG and Programme One Partnership

September 7, 2023

In an innovative move towards a more inclusive and diverse workplace, PRG proudly announces the appointment of Lola Balogun as the new mentor for Programme One, in collaboration with the Aleto Foundation. This partnership marks a significant milestone in PRG’s journey to address underrepresentation and lead towards lasting transformation.

The underrepresentation of black talent within the recruitment sector has long been a pressing issue. Programme One, which was born out of a collective commitment to drive change, are prepared to address this historic imbalance. Seven months of dedication and hard work culminated in the birth of Programme One on June 1st, 2021.

The equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) agenda in the workplace encompasses various facets, from gender and gender identity to ethnicity, age, sexual orientation, religion, belief, and disability. Each initiative plays a vital role in dismantling discriminatory barriers and promoting a more equitable work environment.

However, Programme One stands out by focusing on a disproportionate underrepresentation: black recruiters. While underrepresentation exists across multiple ethnic groups, Programme One seeks to address the historical and unique challenges faced by individuals of Black heritage in the recruitment industry.

Action for Change

At its core, Programme One is a testament to the power of action. It goes beyond rhetoric and delivers tangible, meaningful change. It challenges biases, enhances equality of opportunity, and promotes equity, ultimately aiming to eliminate systemic racism across Asian, Black, and all minority ethnic groups.

In a world where discrimination persists, the initiative recognizes that lasting transformation requires collective commitment and decisive steps. Programme One is a promise, a commitment that together, as a united force of companies, the underrepresentation of Black talent within the industry will be tackled head-on.

Lola Balogun: PRG mentor for the Aleto Foundation

Central to the success of Programme One is the appointment of Lola Balogun as the mentor. With this new role, Lola brings a wealth of experience, knowledge, and inspiration to the program. As a mentor, Lola will play a pivotal role in inspiring, motivating, and guiding his mentee on their professional journey. His expertise will be invaluable in helping individuals navigate the often-complex landscape of the recruitment world.

Lola said “I am happy to be part of a programme that will help people get into and stay in recruitment. I now get to be the person I needed when I started my career journey”.

A Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion

PRG firmly believes that diversity and inclusion are not just buzzwords but cornerstones of innovation and progress. By creating a platform that welcomes talented individuals from diverse backgrounds, PRG is not only breaking down barriers but also creating opportunities for everyone to thrive.

Lola Balogun’s involvement is a testament to PRG’s unwavering commitment to this vision. It signifies a significant step forward in the company’s pledge to creating an inclusive and diverse workplace.

In collaboration with the Aleto Foundation, Programme One is not just an initiative; it is a promise, a commitment, and a call to action. Together, we can drive change, remove inequality, and build a future where everyone can succeed, regardless of their background or heritage.

Precision Resource Group’s Webinar with Programme One is Now Live!

March 16, 2023

Precision Resource Group (PRG) are proud to announce our webinar with Programme One is now live.

Precision Resource Group have been paired with Programme One for just over a year and is incredibly excited to share the news of the recent webinar; this involved PRG Consultant Aaron Green and Atta Gyedu, Career Outreach Lead at Programme One.

Programme One has set up an initiative to address the barriers Black talent face when entering the recruitment industry. They aim to help recruitment companies build on their diversity and inclusion, create an inclusive culture and working environment and develop an understanding of accessing the wider talent pools.

By being a member of Programme One, PRG is joining those organisations that challenge bias, improve equality of opportunity, and enhance equity.

Aaron took part in the webinar to discuss his route into recruitment, the highs, and the lows, how PRG supported his career and the learning and development team that are ready and waiting to support everyone.

Aaron shared his thoughts on the interview.

“Being a neurodiverse person of colour myself, I am passionate about diversity and inclusion in all industries so jumped at the chance to offer what help, support and advice I can for those looking to break into the industry.

If there’s one piece of advice I can focus on from this interview, it’s the unlimited ability of humans to grow and change, shifting the focus away from talent and onto the effort.

Most people who don’t know me that well, would be surprised to find out that I’m actually Autistic and at one point had the social skills of a common garden carrot (some who know me well say I still do).”

He went into detail on his autism diagnosis and discussed the barriers he faced in the recruitment industry but also how PRG were able to support him and his career.

At PRG, there is an important stance on diversity and inclusion, and forming a partnership with Programme One has ensured those important subjects are not left behind.

All forms of discrimination are significant. Challenging bias and redefining equal opportunity is at the core of our values at PRG, as we strive to be as inclusive as possible and commit to removing all barriers for Black recruiters.
