We’re proud to announce that our Business Manager, Tom Selman has joined the Board of Trustees of one of our chosen charities, Jessie May.
Jessie May is a children’s charity very close to Tom and his family after his foster sister, Mia received amazing home care and supported his family with Mia’s life-limiting condition.
Tom is delighted to be part of the board by providing both commercial experience and fundraising with the help from the wonderful people here at PRG.
We sat down with Tom to find out more about his involvement.
Why is Jessie May such an important charity to you?
Jessie May is such an important charity to my family as they offered incredible support to my parents when they cared for my foster sister Mia. Mia had life-limiting conditions and required around the clock care. Jessie May’s support essentially enabled her to remain at home, instead of spending her life in hospital
Why & how you became a trustee?
I was made aware that Jessie May was looking for support from candidates that could offer commercial experience, so approached them through LinkedIn. Linda, the Chair of the Board of Trustees got in touch and arranged an informal interview. I had a couple of conversations with Linda and Chris, the CEO and then attended the quarterly board meeting. After the meeting, the existing board members “voted me in”
How you aim to support the charity?
The two key areas for me will be supporting the operational side of the Charity through the experience I have gained in the commercial world and also by using my local network to assist in the fundraising effort. As with most charities, Jessie May have been hit hard by the pandemic and need a big year of fundraising to continue the fantastic support they provide to families across Bristol and surrounding areas.
How can PRG continue to help the charity throughout 2021?
One of the things I love most about PRG is our dedication to local charities. PRG has supported Jessie May for several years now and the support of companies like ours is vital. Fundraising has been especially hard over the last 10 months due to COVID-19, so a continued effort on the fundraising front would be a huge step in the right direction. Using our various platforms to spread awareness of this great charity would also be greatly appreciated!
